Sticking to your boundaries is one of the most important things you can do when handling narcissistic behavior. Recognize when you need to disengage with a toxic person and step away to get some clarity.

Focus on the way you’re feeling to lower a narcissist’s defenses. Many individuals with narcissistic personality disorder can’t really handle criticism.

If you can shift the focus to yourself rather than them, you might be able to have a more productive talk.

You can also try saying: “Please don’t yell at me in public. It makes me feel belittled.”
