3. They imitate you

According to psychology and research in the field, when one person imitates another, this is a clear sign that they like them. Behavior like this has been accepted for a long time as a sign of flattery, but this is not always the case.

When you are dealing with jealous neighbors, if they start imitating you, this can indicate that they consider you a threat and copy you because they aim to be more like you. Now, if we get back to the first theory, it’s not that they don’t like you. They want to be you, but for this to happen, they have to do something to take your place.

And sometimes they will start to imitate all the things you do. Do you have a new pool? Surprise! They’ve just started building a pool in their yard, and they always insist on telling you that their pool will be so much better than yours.

I moved into a nice neighborhood 3 years ago. Not sure if my neighbors are jealous. They are constantly having their children play in front of my house, walk their dogs to pee/poop. Next door neighbor had the cable people dig their internet cable line from my front yard to the back against the fence. These are the few neighbors that I asked nicely to leave our property alone in stop going or doing things into our yard. I clean up their leaves that blows into my house while they all blow it into the streets. This last snow we had, the neighbor next door around mid 60’s to 70’s had been shoveling her snow in the negative temps. She dislikes me because I asked her to not dig her cable line or anything they want to do so it doesn’t have to be at her house. I let my pride go and helped shovel a small section on the sidewalk in front of her house. She came out shoveling later and ranted don’t shovel in front of her house. I ignored her. She’s never wanted to talk to us since we moved in. She always looks over our house when they come out. We don’t bother anyone or go into anyone’s property. People somehow are always at mine for whatever reasons. Other next door neighbor made friends with the guy 2 houses down. These 2 neighbors moved into the neighborhood after me. They made friends together and probably gossip and spread rumors about me for what they do and I’m sure they try to turn it around the other way to make it my fault. Hence why that rude guy I call him tried to train his dog to pee and poop at our house 2-3 times a day. His wife listens into my conversation with a neighbor and buds in. All this because I asked them to stop going into our yard. They constantly stand and have their kids play in our driveway when their houses are next door or 2 houses down. Is this jealousy because I just find it bad neighbors and rude?

Baby, I have been fighting that green-eyed monster for at least 10 years. It has been different groups, even Church members. I think that the Church Members are feeding from others because I am not around them except on Sunday. I have learned to adapt and keep moving forward.

Honestly, I could never do anything right for them. BUT when I had a skylight crash and didn’t have the cash but paid for it with a painting… the only part of this they LOVED is that I didn’t have the money. No credit for how I paid for it. THEN slowly… the wife said that she painted too and we could paint together. NO THANK YOU.

I learned the hard way and I don’t look back.

I used to have jealous neighbors but they moved. But I have an overly jealous sister in law. She turned her kids against me too.

I don’t have jealous neighbors but I’ve had some ‘friends’ or though I believed were friends do these exact same things to me. It hurt beyond measure, but we all live and learn!

I have a very jealous sister in law. When I would try to talk to her she would ignore me. I even asked her to be in my wedding she refused.she even turned her kids against me and one of her good friends. And I don’t even know her friend for her to hate me. And all this because of jealousy.

I have coworkers like that, I never knew that was cause of them being jealous of me, that never crossed my mind.

I am retired now, but many years ago when I was working in an office I had a hobby making some crafts, which I made a bit of money selling to my fellow employees. Everyone loved my handmade crafts–but strangely, no one in my department ever bought anything, even though I made some refrigerator magnets for only 99 cents! I could sense they were jealous. However, I always got compliments and praises from the “big shots” in my company, because I think they did not feel threatened, as were my peers who gave me the cold shoulder. So I got along much better with the “higher ups.” And when I sewed myself an outfit and wore it at work, the lesser employees were anxious to point out any flaws in my sewing. They seemed to enjoy putting me down–creepy! I was a single girl and could not afford to buy many clothes, so I sewed. When others outside my department gave me a compliment on my sewing, they seemed grieved. It was creepy. Sorry to be rambling on so much, but it really bothered me. Thanks for reading this. I think it is THEIR PROBLEM, not mine, now that I reflect on this. So don’t let these creeps bother you.

What advice do you have about jealous inlaws? Son’s wife and her mother constantly picking at me I try to be friends but they make it difficult with the constant negativity
