“I don’t feel comfortable talking about this right now”

Push off the discussion when handling narcissistic behaviorif it seems to be getting hostile. But don’t make the other person feel cast aside.

Tell them you don’t want to talk now if they’re trying to rile you up in public or when you’re already stressed out. But, ensure you promise to follow up with them later.

That way, they know you’re taking their problems seriously. If all else fails, say: “Let’s not have this discussion in front of everyone.”

“What makes you think treating me like this is okay?”

Be sure to set a firm boundary, and never let them cross it. When you’re dealing with a narcissist over and over again, it’s important to set limits for yourself.

It’ll keep you from being taken advantage of, and you’ll feel better, as well. If you’re being yelled at or called obscene names, tell them it’s inappropriate.

Say: “If you want me to be nice to you, you have to be nice to me, too.”
