What Does Your Handwriting Say About You?

what does your handwriting say about you, handwriting

What does your handwriting say about you? Let’s find out!

Have you ever thought that your handwriting says a lot about your personality? If you’re curious, continue reading because I have a cute surprise for you! In a world where screens and social media rule, writing by hand offers a special glimpse into your soul.

Graphology, another name for handwriting analysis, proposes a link between a person’s psychological attributes and their handwriting. Everything has a buried secret that, if discovered, could expose you as a person—from the loops to the pressure to the lines and spacings! Reading handwriting is a simple way to outwit someone.

Let’s uncover the intriguing insights hidden within your handwriting and discover what it reveals about you.

Larger vs. smaller letters

Your letter sizes might give away a lot about how you want other people to see you. You most likely like being the center of attention if you write with bigger letters. On the other hand, if you write smaller all the time, you’re probably an introvert. This person is one who enjoys taking up less room, one who is humble, one who believes they have a little but significant role to play, and one who feels small yet cherished.

Even Albert Einstein wrote in small characters, a testament to his extraordinary capacity to focus on what he was doing. So, those who write in small letters should be proud of themselves. After all, Einstein was an extraordinary man!

Words slanted (to the right or the left)

According to both psychologists and graphologists, slanted words (both to the right or the left) might give away a lot of details about your attachment style. The upright slant, also known as the left slant, is more reserved and might be referred to as the “avoidant style.” Right-leaning remarks are more frequently made by those who are emotionally close to you or involved rather than distant.

Graphologists have also found another intriguing aspect of the slant: a person with an upright slant who has a highly loopy, broad, emotional-looking handwriting is likely to have safeguards in place to keep their warm and kind nature relatively contained.

Spacing between words

Writers who take less time off than that could be a little demanding and invasive, and they might have a strong desire for human interaction. Conversely, those who interrupt too much between their words may come seen as (metaphorically) detached, disengaged, or solitary individuals. Finally, having precisely spaced handwriting—as Einstein did—shows that a person is organized and has a good sense of perspective. This can’t be a coincidence, in my opinion!

After reading these lines, you decided you will write more by hand? If so, at least do it in style. Buy yourself a set of calligraphy pens, in 8 different sizes. This beginner set is perfect for anyone who enjoys calligraphy as a hobby. It’s available on Amazon for just $8.99!

The pressure applied while writing

Is it possible for you to feel your handwriting on the opposite side of the page? If so, it indicates that you applied a lot of pressure, which might be a sign of forcefulness, aggression, controlling tendencies, intensity, energy, and/or tension.

Based on other details about their handwriting, we may conclude that the person has a healthy lifestyle, is energetic, and likes being active.  On the other hand, mild pressure on the pen and particularly rounded letters may indicate a more cautious attitude. This individual may have grown up with an assertive or dominating sibling and it is difficult for them to develop assertiveness.

Baseline

One can figure out a person’s stability and flexibility from their handwriting baseline, or how the text lines up with the writing line. While an inconsistent baseline may point to mood swings and volatility, a stable one shows a balanced personality.

Wide and narrow loops

The magnitude of loops, such as the lowercase L, may teach us a lot. Loops in handwriting represent the flow of feeling. The writer is more kind, expressive, fun, emotional, and/or sensitive the more loopy they are.

However, if the loop is far too big for the letter, it may be taken as an indication of ego sensitivity—someone who is either overly sensitive or a little too quick to jump to conclusions, or in other words a bit short-tempered.

Rounded or pointed letters?

Similar to loopy letters, rounded handwriting expresses passion. A person with rounded lettering may be more affable, relational, and emotionally invested. Contrarily, pointing letters are linked to analytical, left-brained thinking and might indicate that the writer tends to think in binary terms.

Angular letters are indicative of directness and analytical thinking, as well as irritability and issues controlling anger.

Uniformity vs. inconsistency

Some people are blessed with amazing handwriting that could be confused with a font. This indicates that the person is a bit rigid and has obsessive-compulsive tendencies. A modulation issue may be indicated by handwriting that varies greatly in size and other aspects.

This might be a sensitive individual who reacts strongly to different events. It may be someone who hasn’t developed a single ego identity and is still processing the chaotic emotions of their early years.

This individual demonstrates a tendency towards disorganization, particularly about punctuality, misplacing items, and meeting deadlines.

The way dots the lowercase “i”

Your attention to detail and rebellious spirit may be seen in the way you dot a lowercase I. Observe the formation of the dot; if it is small and exact, this may indicate perfectionism or just that the person is detail-oriented.

If the dot is more pronounced and shaped like a smiling face, it may indicate that the writer is a lighthearted, humorous, and extroverted person who is trying to get attention from others.
A quickly drawn dot with a sharp angle within, resembling a checkmark, suggests that the writer is fiery or “prone to irritation and anger.”

The way the “t” is crossed

Graphologists say that crossing Ts with sweeping T-bar strokes is a certain way to show generosity. This is the joyful giver. The ego is represented on the left side of the page, while the outside world is shown on the right. One who wants to spread their resources and energy toward others is shown by the way that the horizontal stroke stretches toward the outside boundary in such a large, sweeping motion.

An individual is considered ambitious if they cross a T-bar with a stroke that is executed at the upper end of the T-stem.

Connected and disconnected letters

In the first school years, when we learn how to write each letter, we are closely supervised. We must make them correctly and form words with them, and after we complete these steps, we slowly develop our writing style.

Someone who consistently uses linked letters in their handwriting exhibits a predominance of logical thinking. The writer connects similar concepts systematically, suggesting a conscious effort to fit into society’s standards.

On the other side of the page are those whose handwriting has disconnected letters. The interpretation here can vary from one person to another because it can depend very much on how they learned how to write in the early days of school.

Last but not least are those who write a mix of styles, both connected and disconnected letters. Experts say that this is usually the type of writing of an artist or of a very creative individual who is on an ongoing search for new challenges.

What does your signature say about you?

Of course, our signatures are 100% connected to our identity and to who we are as people. I know it sounds cheesy, but it’s true. A short, straightforward signature might imply modesty and a quiet manner, while a huge, flamboyant signature can represent a yearning for recognition and confidence.

Although it might be fun to figure out, it might not be a good idea to judge someone purely based on their handwriting. Because it lacks scientific support and is frequently seen as more of an art than a science, you should always approach it with skepticism. Plus, you never know when you say something that the other person could interpret as saying that you have something against them.

Now, I am curious. How is your handwriting? I promise I won’t judge.
