I Tried Meditation for 30 Days. These Are the Benefits

March 19, 2025 · Lifestyle
meditation for 30 days

Do you want to transform your life? Try meditation for 30 days. You will notice big changes afterward.

Over the past few years, I’ve experienced a great deal of stress; my work has kept me so busy that I’ve barely had time to sleep. Additionally, my partner and I have had to pay off some of our old debt and downsize to a smaller home. Everything came in waves, and we were both so overwhelmed that not even all the magnesium in the world could have helped us.

Then I met a close friend of one of my co-workers who was a yoga instructor and offered me help. I accepted her invitation to go to a free meditation lesson, and I ended up loving it.

If you’re not comfortable doing it with a group and you prefer the privacy of your home, it’s great too.

In the following lines, I will tell you how doing meditation for 30 days straight changed my life for good and lowered my stress levels considerably.

What benefits can meditation bring to your life?

A sense of balance, tranquility, and calm that comes from meditation can improve both your general health and emotional well-being. By focusing on something that relaxes you, you can also use it to de-stress and manage stress.

You can learn to maintain inner peace and center yourself by practicing meditation.

One thing that I learned after doing meditation for 30 days is that the benefits of it will continue even further after the session ends. I managed to navigate the days more peacefully, and at the same time, meditation also helped me control the symptoms of certain illnesses.

If you wish to give it a try, begin with small steps and avoid rushing yourself. Most importantly, when you meditate, it is to completely detach from the world around you. Find a spot in which you won’t be bothered for at least 15 minutes and focus on yourself only.

Allow your mind to be free of every thought!

Minimizes the stress

As I said, I was stressed and overwhelmed, and none of the relaxation techniques I tried worked, so I was willing to try everything.

At first, I tried meditation for 30 days to reduce stress and control my anxiety, which was skyrocketing most of the time.

We might not be aware of it, but physiological indicators of stress, such as elevated heart rate and cortisol, can have long-term effects on everything from blood pressure to sleep. Additionally, meditation may lessen the symptoms of some stress-related illnesses, such as PTSD, fibromyalgia, and irritable bowel syndrome.

Improves sleep

Various studies show that participants who meditated for at least 30 days reported better insomnia severity and longer sleep duration than those who took melatonin pills. And I can confirm these things.

Because of the stress and the number of thoughts hitting my brain in a not-very-pleasant way, I barely slept during the night. I was so tired I wished my company allowed people to take a nap after lunch. But of course, they didn’t, so I had to do something to regulate my sleep.

Meditation can also ease tension, relax your body, and put you in a calm state that increases your chances of falling asleep.

Manage anxiety and panic attacks effectively

Are you dealing with anxiety issues? Then you may want to try meditation for 30 days.

I found that practicing mindfulness meditation improved my mood and decreased my anxiety symptoms. I previously mentioned that my high levels of stress at work were the primary reason I started meditation, as I was on the verge of losing it due to massive layoffs.

It was really helpful to me in handling this overwhelming anxiety and made me realize that if something happens, there is always a solution for it.

Can lower blood pressure

All the stress in my life also led to high blood pressure and frequent headaches. Not even ibuprofen could ameliorate the pain.

So when I decided to try meditation for 30 days, I had no idea how much it would help me.

High blood pressure can lead to heart attacks or strokes, especially if it goes untreated. The good news is that meditation lowers blood pressure by reducing blood vessel tension, the fight-or-flight response that makes us more vigilant in stressful situations, and the nerve signals that regulate heart function.

Supports emotional health

Doing meditation for 30 days will also lead to positivity and an improved self-image. If you’re an anxious person who is also prone to depression, doing meditation can help you reduce the symptoms considerably.

Meditation makes you more aware of your thoughts and feelings, which makes it easier to deal with bad feelings.

Develops self-understanding and personal growth

During the stressful times of my life, I found myself hopeless without any positive thinking.

I used to lower my expectations for everything, believing that I was unworthy of a certain task or, worse, not capable of doing it.

But after meditating for 30 days, I saw changes here and there. I realized that by concentrating on my own journey, I could avoid getting caught up in comparisons with others. I understand my emotions better than before, and I always stop before answering when I am angry.

What type of meditation should you choose?

That’s it; you’re determined to enroll in the “meditation for 30 days program” and see for yourself if it benefits you or not. But now comes the question: what type of meditation should I choose?

Based on my journey, I warmly recommend mindfulness meditation, which means paying more attention to the present.

Pay attention to one thing during mindfulness meditation, like how your breath moves through your body. What you think and feel is yours. Let them go, though, without judging them. If you don’t feel like mindful meditation is for you, there is always yoga.

This boosts mental clarity and physical flexibility but also helps you be more present and minimize stress.

Useful tip:

If this is your first time and you’re just getting started to get used to meditation, I recommend aiming for 10 minutes.

Get settled and make sure you’re relaxed; you can put some music on in the background if it helps you detach completely (but something without lyrics). Then focus on your breathing and spend a couple of minutes just sitting with your eyes closed. Don’t think of anything; just relax, but don’t fall asleep.

Now probably those 10 minutes flew by, and you’re done for the day. Congratulate yourself because you deserve it!

If you have reached this far with the reading and you’re convinced you want to try meditation for 30 days, you will need a yoga mat. And because I know you don’t like to browse through thousands of pages and products on Amazon just to find the right one for you, I will give you a suggestion.

I bought this yoga mat from Gaiam when I started my meditation journey six months ago, and it still looks very good. It has a non-slip texture, it’s easy to clean with warm water and a sponge, and it costs just $16.98. I’d say it’s a good deal and nice to have it! Oh, and one of the best things about it (at least for me) is the adorable mandala printed on it!
