You are pretty, but…
…But what? Make up your mind, because if you compliment me and then change your mind, it isn’t really a compliment.
That’s what I’m thinking every time I see that someone is about to compliment me, and they change their mind in a matter of seconds.
Don’t get me wrong; this probably happened the most in my family meetings! There’s always an aunt or a cousin who doesn’t like your piercing, thinks you’re pretty but fat, or says you talk too loud.
Every time I see someone doing that (to me or to someone else), all I can think about is… Couldn’t you just stick to saying I’m pretty and nothing else?
