5. Sarcasm and false praise
So, let’s say that you talk with some of your neighbors, and they start to compliment and praise you for all of your achievements. The only problem is that you immediately noticed that while they were complimenting you, they were using hints of sarcasm, their voices sounded unusual, and their tone was not sincere at all.
If you see that your neighbors offer you backhanded compliments and use sarcasm to downplay your achievements, they are just envious of you. Jealous neighbors might do this because they want to make everything you do less meaningful. They want to do something so they can feel better than you.
You don’t have to let these mean people get the best of you. What you can do is distance yourself from them and never let their issues affect you. Their problems are not your responsibility.
