8. Resist Perfectionism
If you want to establish a work-life balance in your life, it’s important to understand that this implies splitting your energy and time between more than one space and not going all-in on any one thing.
We’ve got to say this: the boundaries necessary to maintain a work-life balance don’t go well with perfectionism, so it’s important to acknowledge that early on. For instance, if going to the gym or having a run in the park offers you a meaningful work-life balance, then you should be OK with leaving work-related tasks as-is when that time of day comes.
There will be situations when you try to be fully present at work after a full weekend and you cannot or strive to follow through with personal commitments and fall short. Acknowledging work-life balance is a challenging thing to do, and accepting that you may not always reach your goals can help you manage your expectations.
