They get upset when you visit your friends.

Tons of possessiveness could be easily chalked up to an insecure attachment style. There’s this form of insecure attachment called “preoccupied attachment”, where a person is overly focused on preserving the closeness between you two.

Also, they become hypersensitive to any hint of abandonment. That could be one of the reasons why they freak out every time you try to have fun without them.

Time with someone could be interpreted as something they need to compete with. In reality, they don’t.

You don’t have to become their therapist, but it could help acknowledge their concern and make sure everything is well and that you will return to them.

They are constantly jealous.

This is one of the signs of a possessive partner that could be easily argued, because truth be told, some level of jealousy is somehow natural in a relationship.

However, if you notice that your significant other is deeply consumed by it, then it could be a red flag. As long as you did nothing to break their trust, then their jealousy comes from insecurity or a toxic need to control you.

Possessive partners get jealous about your past, especially when they hear who you’ve dated or how many people you’ve hooked up with.

It might even lead them to become obsessive because, as we all know, there’s nothing you can do to change the past. And why would you want that?
