It is awful to have to endure hearing your mother-in-law make excuses for your husband or wife while you are sitting right there. It also ruins the relationship between you and your partner. Regardless of whether the mother-in-law is correct, butting into a child’s marriage to protect her daughter or son won’t solve anything and will just serve to stir up the conflict further.
The mother-in-law might have good intentions in some instances, but the majority of the time, a married couple has things that need to be kept private, regardless of what opinions others may have.
