Lures come in many different sizes, shapes, and colors, each designed to help you catch a specific range of fish species.
Pick lure sizes and shapes that let you “match the hatch.” The secret is to match the lure with the closest size of the predators. When they are feeding on a school of small, thin fishes such as anchovies, a small, thin lure will often be just what you need—while a five-inch lure may probably go untouched.
Length and profile are generally the most important features in this regard, as your quarry may well focus on the size and shape of the prevailing bait and skip other offerings.
