7 Ways to Manifest Your Dream Job

What does your dream job look like?

You probably wonder what manifestation is exactly, or how it can help you achieve your professional goals. In other words, manifesting is also turning something from an idea into a reality. It’s simply the thought that you use the power of your mind to attract what you really want in your life.

If you are a bit skeptical, like I definitely was in the beginning, hear me out: Manifesting is way more than thinking and wishing about achieving your goals. A huge piece of the practice is about taking action and creating healthy habits. Even if the law of attraction plays a crucial role in manifesting, it’s also a lot about how we use this type of intentionality through actions and habits to make the life we love and deserve. Let’s dive into it!

Allow yourself to daydream about your dream job

Do you remember when you were a kid, and you used to stare out the window in the backseat of the car, and your mind would start wandering? It’s quite a stark contrast to adulthood, when you simply hop in the car and turn on a podcast, call someone close, or hop on a work meeting.

As children, we used to spend a lot of time playing, daydreaming, or simply allowing ourselves to just be. But now, our brains are always flooded with information, content, and thinking about everything we need to accomplish. The first step in intentional manifesting is to allow yourself to daydream.

Just let your mind wander and see where it takes you. The world is your oyster. A very important part of cultivating your dream job is having confidence. Commit to trying new things outside your comfort zone. Don’t worry about the outcome. If it doesn’t work out, at least you know you tried, and you will soon realize that success is definitely not the only thing that matters.

Get clear on the dream job you wish for

If you read this, it’s clear you’re ready to manifest your dream job. But that can mean a lot of different things for different people. So, what you need to do next is to get very clear on what your dream job looks like for you. Just think about what type of role you want, and what those responsibilities look like for you.

Consider what industries or companies you wish to work for. Ponder what your work-life balance would look like, and how all of that would factor into the big picture of your personal life. Decide whether or not you want to start a new side hustle, find a full-time role, or just find more flexibility at work. Also, think about what type of work environment would truly suit you best, and what type of people you would like to surround yourself with.

Share the dream job you have been manifesting with the Universe

As soon as you have a clear picture of what you truly want to manifest, it’s time to share what you want to attract with the universe. Most likely, up until now, you have held your manifestations very close to your chest, which means they’ve only lived in your mind.

You cannot simply think about what you want because manifestation is more than just thought. It’s also about action. Start making a list with all the action steps you might have to take to move the needle. It can be anything, really, from updating your resume to making connections, learning new skills, networking more often, or even taking a new class. Try to get as specific as you can, because all of these steps will soon turn your thoughts into reality.

Cultivate a gratitude mindset for the expertise you already have

An important part of the manifestation also implies appreciating what you already have, while also working toward what you wish for. You could think that sounds a bit difficult, but the concept relates all the way back to keeping a positive mindset. If you are currently in a negative mindset, solely focused on negative thoughts, mostly because you don’t have what you wish for in life, then you will keep lacking what you wish for.

But if you focus on positive thoughts and are still grateful for what you have, even if it’s not your end goal, you will only attract more positive energy into your life. It’s just the law of attraction. Mindset is an important piece of the puzzle in achieving your goals. You need to be your biggest cheerleader in life, so you have to make sure to give yourself the positive encouragement you need in order to go and grab your dreams.

Let go of what doesn’t serve you during your career journey

Even if the prospect of manifesting a dream job is quite exciting, navigating our careers and job search in the day-to-day can be quite exhausting, overwhelming, and frustrating. All these negative feelings can lead to limiting beliefs, negative self-talk, and fear, all of which can definitely affect our habits, routines, relationships, and overall progress towards our goals.

Even if it might be difficult and challenging at times, you still need to trust the process. The law of attraction says that positive energy and thoughts attract way more positive energy and thoughts. The same applies on the flip side. You could be self-sabotaging yourself, especially if you are always focused on what isn’t working, what you’re afraid of, or why you haven’t exactly landed your dream job yet.

Establish your goals

Before you even start, you have to establish your end goal. To effectively job search, you need to know what you’re looking for. Create a list and try to keep it visible during your search. The list also has to include what roles you are interested in, what companies you wish to work for, what responsibilities you want to add to your resume, and what your preferred work environment looks like.

So you should get super specific. The more defined and clear you can be before you start your job search, the smoother the process. But remember, while it’s amazing to have a dream job in mind, you should still keep an open mind to all the opportunities that arise as a dream goal-adjacent. It’s quite unlikely that one role will check all your boxes.

Create a timeline

As soon as you know what you’re looking for, make sure you establish your timing. Also, try to determine an ideal timeline of when you would like to be in the role of your dreams. Are you planning to aggressively search to land a job right away, or are you simply looking until you find the right one?

Get clear on where on the spectrum you fall, then try to work your way backward. For instance, if you want to be in a new job in the following three months, then you might need to take quite an active role in applying for positions now. If you also factor in the time it takes to interview and give your two weeks’ notice, then the three-month timeline starts to look a bit more like a month and a half.
